How to get in the habit of Making Room

A 365 Days Challenge Day #2

The Habit of Making Room

 photo 43ec8ab8a665639024333c296a5260ce.jpg

How do you build a relationship with God? Like a friendship or a marriage, a great relationship with God doesn’t happen all at once. You build it over time. It’s a daily process of investigating and celebrating who God is, and sharing the grit and substance of your life with Him.

To build a successful marriage, spouses must find time for one another, enjoying a walk in the park, a dinner at a restaurant, playing a board game, working on a remodeling project, or any of a hundred other activities. That will look different in every marriage. But, without that shared time, any marriage slowly dies.

Building a relationship with God also involves taking time out for Him. That might include singing songs of praise, silently pondering God’s character, or pouring out your thoughts and feelings to Him. You might take a walk with God or invite Him to join you at work. The key isn’t so much in how you approach God, but rather in the habit of making room for Him in your everyday life.

Lord, I want to make room for you today by…

I want to make room for God by praying, reading and separating my time of daily devotion to Him. I’m challenging myself to get this done for 365 days straight. Building a healthy relationship habit  with God is what will help me reach my goal of a happy and longer life.

Here Come New Ideas for A New Beginning

A 365 Days Challenge Day #1

IMG_0494-0

How do you start fresh with  God? How do you close the distance between yourself and your Creator? It really is very simple: Come out of hiding.

In the Bible we read the account of Adam and Eve who ate the forbidden fruit, realized they were uncovered, and hid from God. So God walked through the garden calling out, ” where are you?” God helped this couple after they stepped out into the light and said, ” Here we are.” Their honesty about where they were and what they had done opened the door for God to clothe them and promise them a Savior who would rescue them from their fallen condition.

God comes into our lives asking the same question: “Where are you?” When we honestly face who we are and what we have become, the door is opened for us to have a genuine relationship with Him. You can’t dress up for God. He deals in the currency of honesty. Bring the real you to the real God and watch transformation take place.

Lor God, help me to admit that I need you. I’ve been hiding for way too long. Love myself for who I am. I need to bee and feel alive for myself and do this for me and no one else.

God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the  chaos of my life. Psalm 51:10

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 (NIV)

9 Insane (But True) Questions kids ask

girl-545510_1280

As they grow, children begin to ask questions. Some hard, some even feared by adults.

A Research by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) with the collaboration of more than four thousand people with children between 4 and 12 years reveals that when the questions are on topics related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, 83% parents do not know what to say. This happens especially with basic questions such as what justifies that the sky is blue.

Two-thirds of respondents recognize that they already answered the wrong way, just not to admit they don’t know. And about 61% say they have used tricks or just didn’t respond.

“Parents need to know that it’s perfectly legitimate to say: ‘. I do not know, good question Let’s see if we can find the answer,'” explains Naomi Climer, president of the EIT.

board-776688_1920

1. What is photosynthesis? It is the process by which the green plants and some organisms use the sunlight to convert CO2 and water into sugars and oxygen.

2. How can the universe be infinite? The universe is infinite, but because of the speed of light we can only see the finite part. or the places where the light has reached since the beginning of the universe.

3. Why is the sun so big and there’re no people living there? The sun is much smaller than most of the stars we see in the sky. And it is impossible to live there because we would die of heat.

4. Why does the sunshine? The pressure that exists in the center of the sun causes the atoms to become hydrogen into helium. This is a process that takes the name of nuclear fusion, which occurs when the lighter elements are forced to stay together, to turn into heavier elements. This creates a lot of energy.

5. Can the moon fall? The truth is that, because of gravity, the moon falls towards the Earth. But it does this continuously, at high speed, it can follow the curve of our planet and will not collide. .

6. Why is the sky blue? The light coming from the sun enters the atmosphere and disperses in all directions. As the length of which is shorter, the blue light scattered more than purple and yellow, which gives the impression that occupies the entire sky.

7. Who invented the computer? We could say it was Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace, in the nineteenth century, when they invented a brass the machine, or Alan Turing and John von Neumann, who later created the first electronic machines. So the best answer is the computers were invented by many people.

8. How are bricks made? To make bricks, men use a natural ingredient, clay.

9. How many species of dinosaurs existed? It is estimated that there was between 700 and 900 kinds of dinosaurs. But it’s hard to be sure because paleontologists are always finding new fossils.

4 things I wanted to know when my children were small #parenting

IMG_2429

All parents make mistakes and they try to fix it. This doesn’t mean they are less of a parent. What most of them feel is regret about something they did or did not do and it’s too late to turn back. Don’t suffer because of it. If you look back at your life, you will see that your parents made a few slip-ups as well and not so you will love them less or never forgive them. However, there are some things I wish I knew when my children were small. Hope this helps new parents not to make the same mistakes I did. Here are four things I wanted to know when my children were small:

1. They grow too fast Look at your children. Look at all the moments. Register what you can. They grow up so fast that soon you feel homesick for a baby. How many times I was using the computer late at night instead of putting them to bed, or telling a story, and praying with them. I was doing these things whenever possible, but I lost many nights without doing so. It’s not too late to change your behavior. I don’t remember exactly what I was doing on the computer, what kind of work or surfing on social networks, but I remember perfectly their happy eyes when I would say good night with many kisses and hugs. When I prayed with them and told a story. There is no money or fun in the world to compensate these sweet moments. Tip: Don’t be the only one telling the story, let them tell it as well.

2. Pay attention to what you promise Let’s have a picnic every day … We can go to the movies on Friday … Next week we can go to the zoo. Plans, promises that will break. Time will pass by and now they no longer feel welcome in these family programs and will not take advantage of them as they would as children. Create this kind of memories with your kids is something they will carry for life. I wish my parents took me for picnics. I would have done more of these activities with my kids and their grandparents.

3. They need loving limits A child does not know how far you can go if you do not circumscribe the border between what is allowed and what is forbidden for them to do. I never understood this principle until a few weeks ago in letting my children free to explore their own world and find their own answers. It was not a very happy moment. When I read that limits gave security to the child I imagined that they would feel like monkeys in a cage. But it is not so. Children like to know if they are pleasing or displeasing their parents. If you do not know what parents expect they will feel confused and unsure of what to do or not do. Set limits with love it’s the best way to raise a child.

4. They need the example I think one of the major functions of a parent is to be an example for their children. As the saying goes: “When there are no words, the example follows and it starts in the cradle.. What kind of children you want to have? Educated? Gentle? Who likes to read? Religious? Respectful? Responsible? For sure we want our children to have such qualities and the best way to teach them is cultivating these qualities in ourselves. Many parents punish their children for lying, but when the mother calls, send the child to say that she is not available. We want our children, to be honest, but we don’t return the change when received wrong. They want responsible children, but we do not keep up on our promises. It’s not easy being parents, everyone knows it. Important and valuable thing are not easy to achieve. So despite our mistakes, we are the best person we can be and we need to learn from our mistakes before it is too late. And as a bonus, here’s another tip: Smile at your children and make their day better with this simple gesture.

There are many ways to be good parents. There is no formula or proven and guaranteed way to success in raising small. But regrets, yes.

The art of living well #ButgetWithElly

IMG_0616

Do not demand from others what they can not give you, but expect each of their responsibilities.
Be sure to enjoy pleasure, but do no harm anyone.
Do not take more than you need, but fight for your rights.
Do not look at people with your eyes only, but look with their eyes as well.
Don’t always teach , you can learn more.
Do not be discouraged before failure, but overcome it transforming it into learning.
Do not take advantage of anyone who tries so hard, he may be doing what you did not do.
Do not ruin a different program with your bad mood, discover the joy of new things.
Do not let life slip away from the faucet it may be missed by others …

Love can absorb much suffering, but not the lack of respect to yourself!
If you want the best of people, give them as much of yourself, since life has given you so much.
Anyway, always be thankful forever because gratitude opens the door of the heart.

#BudgetWithElly the @DaveRamsey Style

Let’s start today with what I did to become frugal and try to be Debt free.
My husband inspired me by listening to ” The Dave Ramsey Show ” and he came home one day and said, can you listen to this guy I think he’s awesome. I decided to listen to Dave Ramsey for the first time and I thought to myself. Can we do this? Can we really be debt free? Is it possible to pay over $10k of credit card bills and actually live like ” No One else, so later in life we can live like no one else? __ Dave Ramsey”
19c6b-later-ppsize

So, who is this Dave anyways?
Dave Ramsey is a personal money management expert, radio talk show host and TV personality who over the years has helped thousands of people become debt free and change their financial lives.

Before I started to listen to Dave, we had to make a decision, to either listen and apply or don’t do it at all. I started to believe we could and believed in GOD we could do it. AM I there? no! not yet, but we have a lot less to go. 🙂

We started with Dave Ramsey’s baby steps that are

Baby Step 1 – $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund
Baby Step 2 – Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball
Baby Step 3 – 3 to 6 months of expenses in savings
Baby Step 4 – Invest 15% of household income into Roth IRAs and pre-tax retirement
Baby Step 5 – College funding for children
Baby Step 6 – Pay off home early
Baby Step 7 – Build wealth and give!
we are obviously not anywhere close to where we would like to be, but we will get there.
We had to make some sacrifice, especially at the beginning. It’s not easy because it requires sacrifice. And it’s not a lot of fun. We started less than a year ago.
So, I decided to start looking at all the ways I could save, and I started doing the frugal mom thing (Coupons) I save over $200 a month just on coupons alone. Some people are embarrassed to use them, I’m not simple as that. they are there to help you and you’re not stealing from someone, So why not?

Budget-Quote

A lot of people talk about how to change their financial lives but never touch on the fact that if you or your spouse isn’t ready to change, it isn’t going to happen. You have to want to change.
His plan might not be perfect for everyone, but it does point everyone in the right direction.
What is your life’s purpose? When you find it, you’ll find the motivation you need to live according to your financial plan, even when it’s tough. Making these steps require a budget. In order to succeed with these bigger goals, you’ve got to make it work day-by-day. Paying off your debt snowball requires snowflakes. And you and your spouse need to regularly communicate.
Give it a try, visit the Dave Ramsey site and other budgeting sites and get started. Believe me, It’s never too late 🙂

Form New Habits

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

God’s Word teaches us that when we receive Christ as our Savior and Lord, He gives us a new nature. He gives us His nature. He also gives us a spirit of discipline and self-control, which is vital in allowing us to choose the ways of our new nature. He gives us a sound mind (see 2 Timothy 1:7), and that means we can think about things properly without being controlled by emotion. The way we once were passes away, and we have all the equipment we need for a brand-new way of behaving. God gives us the ability and offers to help us, but we are not puppets and God will not manipulate us. We must choose spirit over flesh and right over wrong. Our renewed spirits will then control our souls and bodies or, to say it another way, the inner person will control the outer person.

Without God’s help we have difficulty doing things in moderation. We frequently eat too much, spend too much money, have too much entertainment, and talk too much. We are excessive in our actions because we behave emotionally. And after the thing is done and cannot be undone, we regret doing it. But we can choose to form new habits, not doing something just because we feel like it, but instead doing what will produce the best result in the end.

We do not have to live in regret. God gives us His Spirit to enable us to make right and wise choices. He urges us, guides and leads us, but we still have to cast the deciding vote. If you have been casting the wrong vote, all you need to do is change your vote. Forming new habits will require making a decision to not do what you feel like doing unless it agrees with God’s will.

Trust in Him
God wants you to live out of your new nature, not your old one. Every time you put your trust in Him and cast the deciding vote to obey, His Spirit transforms you and makes you more like Him.

Family Night

#FamilyTime Saturday Fun ( Hotel Tips )

A Cleaner hotel rooms

Get a better night’s sleep during your next hotel stay by quickly wiping down your room.
I’ve worked as a housekeeper at a hotel in Boston for a little while.

I remember very clearly my cleaning routine.
When I visit hotels today, I particularly recall how the cleaning of rooms were done.
Just the way they trained me. After training, I did my own cleaning.  Use to make sure everything got cleaned.

Typically, hotel maids have a checklist of what they’re obligated to tend to. Stripping and replacing the sheets and towels, vacuuming the floor, dusting the table tops, wiping down the sinks, and sanitizing the toilet and tub are part of the routine.

Considering the parts that probably don’t get attention, here is a checklist of what you can do to sanitize your next hotel stay.

You’re not the only guest in the room. Who knows what types of germs, cover the many surfaces in a hotel room.

Before making yourselves at home, take an antibacterial wipe or spray soap and wipe the places touched by thousands of fingers. The doorknobs, TV remote, light switches, phone, refrigerator handles, ice bucket, toilet flusher and faucet handles are probably pretty yucky.

Be careful with drinking from reusable glasses,  Who knows what might be going on there.

What’s the first thing we do when we enter a hotel room?

Usually, we plop down on the bed. But how clean is that bedding, really? The bedspread and blankets are likely dirty When I worked as a housekeeper, I don’t remember the bedspreads ever been washed. The sheets, of course.

Clean sheets are normally a given in a room. But the coverlet or comforter and extra blanket in the closet possibly haven’t seen a washing machine. One solution is to strip them from the bed altogether and sleep in the sheets. Bedbugs have become a major epidemic in many hotels. Rather than setting your bags on the floor, elevate them on a table. Or, store them in the bathroom, where bed bugs normally don’t hang out. ( even though I have found them there. )

Don’t leave your clothes on the floor. This decreases your chances of returning home with uninvited friends. Wear slippers or shoes Have you ever wondered how often the floors are shampooed? I have too. I cringe as my bare feet walk over dirty hotel carpeting. The occasional night away in a hotel or inn is always an adventure. If you don’t worry about a little grime or bacteria, you’re lucky. But if you’re like me and want an easier night’s sleep, take a few precautions.

Monday #Review of the @DollaShaveClub

I wanted to give this time. Try it out before I wrote anything bad or good about it.
The first day we got the shaver from @DollarShaveClub we were very excited couldn’t wait to try it out.

It looked very appealing in the pictures, the website promotes

A GREAT SHAVE FOR A FEW BUCKS. No commitment. No fees. No BS.

As for me being a frugal stay at home mom I liked the idea of the price.

Yes, it’s cheaper than the other brands.
When you stop to think about it using coupons with other brands you can get it for the same price maybe even cheaper. Even though we realized that we still wanted to try it out.

The website is easy to choose and start getting what you are looking for as it states on the website.

HOW IT WORKS Dollar Shave Club couldn’t be simpler. Select one of our great blades, pay only for the cost of your blades, and we send ’em right to your door every month.

We selected to have the most expensive one $9 month +shipping because I thought

” Hey this will be perfect. The website describes the blades as follow.

THE FINAL FRONTIER THE EXECUTIVE $9 EVERY MONTH SHIPS FREE SELECT 6
stainless steel blade
4 cartridges per month
Special trimmer edge built in for the professional
This blade comes from the future and lives in outer space
Full 90-degree pivot head Wide-open back for a fast, easy rinse Aloe, Vitamin E, and lavender lubricating strip calms sensitive skin.
What do you get the bathroom sink that has everything? The Executive. This blade is my successful. Muy sexy. Weighty, substantial handle delivers the ultimate compliment to the man who understands. And the shave is so buttery, it feels like you’re carving turns through a virgin Wyoming snowfall.

It took about a week for the delivery, and we had our brand-new shavers and a free sample of the aftershave in our hands.

It’s a nice-looking shaver and the Special trimmer was cool.

So, my husband tested it first, he used the shaver 2x and had to move on to a new one.
I told him maybe it was because I used it once and he said ” well the one we get at the store lasts 3weeks before changing blades.

He tried using another one by himself, I never touched it (I promise LOL) again after 2 shaves the blades were dull and it looked horrible.

Yes, we got disappointed. I had so much expectation for this product, and it failed. 😦

Still haven’t decided what I want to do next, but since the one we got is the best they can offer I think we will need to cancel.

(I bought this product, and this is my honest opinion, don’t forget everyone is different and the product might work great for you. It didn’t for us, and this is why I’m doing my review.)
